Occupational therapy in Early Intervention (EI) focuses on helping infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) develop the skills they need to engage in everyday activities, also known as "occupations." For young children, these occupations include playing, feeding, dressing, and interacting with their environment.
Physical therapy in Early Intervention focuses on helping infants and young children with developmental delays or disabilities improve their movement, strength, balance, and coordination. A physical therapist (PT) works to develop and enhance gross motor skills such as sitting, crawling, walking, and running, which are essential for mobility and overall physical development.
